Focus on “100% Design” at VORWERK
Vorwerk Teppichwerke presents award-winning new products at Great Britain's largest design trade fair
From the 23rd to the 26th of September 2004, the focus in the fine-arts metropolis of London is going to be on "100% Design", the largest exposition for contemporary design in Great Britain, and thus an international magnet for designers and manufacturers of exclusive design products. This year marks the tenth anniversary of this major event. Within this exclusive framework, Vorwerk Teppichwerke from Hamlin, Germany is presenting the highest quality in woven art for the floor, award-winning contract carpets and a new, finely co-ordinated range of colours for sophisticated textile flooring design in the contract business. It should come as no surprise that a 100% focus on design is not only in London, but at Vorwerk, too.
As a company steeped in tradition, Vorwerk can look back on over 100 years of experience in the designing of high-quality and design-oriented carpets. Today just as it was back then, woven carpets in particular demand the highest quality in terms of production technology, as well as designs able to fulfil the highest standards. Vorwerk leads in this segment in Germany, and has a special knack for delighting both the trade and the public regularly through new, innovative products.
Current woven art "made by Vorwerk" is also going to be shown at "100% Design", including not one, but two new products which have received awards for outstanding design achievement: the new contract carpet FORMAT, recipient of the coveted "red dot" awarded each year by the
Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen (Design Centre North Rhine-Westphalia) at the international "red dot design award" competition; and NANDOU design gloss, which has just received the "Innovation Prize for Architecture and Flooring" from AIT in Germany. Right on time for the exposition, yet another highlight is that Vorwerk is going to be presenting its newest study in design concepts: Vorwerk STYLE.
Award-winning woven carpets
FORMAT has a new look composed of long, flat loops that catch the eye immediately. Designed in plain hues, FORMAT displays a refined yet discreet diagonal effect. The case is completely different when different-coloured threads are used. That weave presents itself in a surprising lengthwise-oriented look enhanced by a subtly staggered two-tone colouring. Remarkable, even though the method of manufacture remains unchanged in comparison to the monochrome carpet. One technique - two effects.
With NANDOU design gloss, Vorwerk convinces yet again with a textile floor covering that captivates the beholder through its puristic, unadorned elegance and a surprising gloss effect. What makes NANDOU design gloss so special is a new development from Vorwerk: a glossy thread bearing a dignified look. This purely textile thread can be produced in numerous, intensely gleaming colours.
As is true of the entire Vorwerk woven carpet programme, both products distinguish themselves through excellent properties typical for use in the contract business. In addition to high durability factors, it goes without saying that all carpets bear the TÜV (German Technical Certification Association) seal "suitable for those suffering from allergies".
For the first time this year, at "100% Design" Vorwerk will be presenting a newly co-ordinated range of colours for the well-known woven carpets PRISMA and IDEA melange, as well as for NANDOU design gloss. Departing from the strong contrasts previously offered, blue/white for example, the new contract-specific colours captivate through an appealingly soft and elegant matching of tones.
A design concept that looks like a winner
Vorwerk STYLE is the name of the newest design concept from the creative studios of this carpet manufacturer from Hamlin, Germany. Produced on state-of-the-art looms, STYLE has been conceived as a classically constructed flat weave that captivates as a result of its suprising look and a highly design-oriented character. In the case of this innovative woven product, the materials utilised enter into a new unity of design-forming elements that extends far beyond the plain necessities of construction. This study in design is going to be presented to a trade audience for the first time at "100% Design", and shall be participating in the design competition "Blueprint Award 2004" within the framework of the trade fair.
Big design on a small area
Vorwerk Teppichwerke has quite intentionally decided in favour of a very reserved presentation for the coming appearance at the exposition, one not targeted towards the wide selection, but distinctly highlighting the award-winning design and weave competence displayed by Vorwerk Teppichwerke as a carpet manufacturer instead. As such, the Vorwerk booth at the trade fair (H96) shall be limited to a presentation area of merely ten square metres. Yet dimensions like these are completely in alignment with the exposition's overall concept uniting numerous small, though first-rate, corporate presentations under one roof, with only a few on a larger scale. Since its start in 1995, the trade fair "100% Design" has evolved to the present into one of the leading design expositions in Great Britain. Here over 450 internationally renowned exhibitors present the best to be found worldwide in terms of award-winning contemporary interior design. Prominent amongst the professionals visiting "100% Design" are architects, designers and interior decorators interested in obtaining information about the newest design innovations and trends. More than 35,000 visitors attended last year. As a result of the event's increasing success, all estimates point towards an increase in the number of visitors once again. Contributing additionally to this are the high figure of roughly 170 exhibitors who shall be along for the first time in 2004.
