Besides the co-ordinates vital for navigation, the RFID tags in the SMART CARPET can also carry information, e.g. about the type of flooring or the space itself. The reading out and enscribing of the chips takes place via the robot. The RFID tag itself is passive.

With SMART CARPET, Vorwerk is presenting the first carpet containing integrated RFID technology for the intelligent navigation of service robots. The design is produced individually according to the customer's wishes.
